sono un
genere di
roditori originari del
Sud America.Il loro aspetto ricorda molto quello di un grosso
scoiattolo (il peso oscilla fra i 300 e gli 800 grammi) con un'andatura
simile a quella del
coniglio.
Entrambe le specie sono minacciate dalla riduzione dell' habitat
e dalla caccia da parte dell'uomo.
In base ai criteri della
IUCN red list C. lanigera è
classificata come specie vulnerabile (VU) mentre C. brevicaudata risulta
in pericolo critico (CR) di
estinzione.
Allevato in origine per le pellicce, viene ora preferito
dagli appassionati come animale domestico, essendo vivace, spesso affettuoso e
assolutamente inodore. Il suo pelo è sottilissimo e morbido, e le varianti di
colore sono molte.
I principali colori del mantello sono lo standard, ossia il
grigio, il Black Velvet (nero con pancia grigio bianca) e il Wilson
White (bianco con occhi scuri). Le altre mutazioni conosciute sono l'Ebony
(nero), il Mosaico (bianco pigmentato), l'Omobeige e l'Eterobeige
e i più rari Sapphire e Pink.
L'alimentazione è costituita da fieno secco e mangime
apposito, con aggiunta di mele,carote,prezzemolo,broccoli,asparagi (in quantità
massima giornaliera di 50gr.) da evitarsi sono invece alimenti grassi, fritti e
le verdure troppo acquose come la lattuga.
Il cincillà ha bisogno di gabbie ampie e spaziose, come le
voliere e di fare molto movimento. Ama i posti alti. Necessita ogni giorno di
fare il cosiddetto "bagno di sabbia" (come i
Gerbilli) che consiste nel rotolarsi in una sabbia apposita, molto sottile
che separa il pelo rendendolo più bello, ed elimina il
sebo
in eccesso.

Vintage Figural Sculpture Chinchilla Trophy Statue
This pair of brass and gilt metal trophies was awarded in
1955 to the grand Champion and Best Female in the Illinois Branch of the
national Chinchilla Breeders of America. The Grand Champion stands 16 ½” and The
Best Female is 11 ½”. They are in good condition with expected wear and
oxidation.

1996. Bloque “Conservemos las Especies de México” de 25 sellos (24 valores) en
donde se muestran diferentes ecosistemas mexicanos, con valor facial de 1,8
pesos cada uno y con valor actual de unos 24 dólares, excepto el sello de la
parte media superior, que sólo contiene el título de la serie, y que forma parte
del paisaje pero carece de valor postal. Los ecosistemas representados son:
Desierto, Bosque Templado, Bosque de Niebla, Selva Baja, y Selva Húmeda.

Chinchilla Pfeffer & Salzstreuer
lange Zeit waren nur 2 unterschiedliche Arten bekannt.
Doch nach einigen Recherchen haben wir herausgefunden das sich zwei sehr ähneln
und es eine weitere Art noch zusätzlich gibt. Somit zählen wir bisher 4
unterschiedliche Pfeffer & Salzstreuer. Ein Pfeffer und Salzstreuer wurde im
Auftrag der Empress Chinchilla hergestellt.
